hey, i'm alex
I’m here to ask better questions, to bring shape and order to complexity, to design systems that breathe. I work closely with teams who want to build something real, something that feels alive.
If you’re looking for a designer who thinks in both sketches and structures, who values dialogue as much as decisions, we might be a good fit.

print design
A series of print layouts and advertisements designed for Raleigh’s leading lifestyle publication. Working within existing brand systems, I focused on elevating the visual pacing, tightening typographic rhythm, and creating layouts that feel both clean and editorially rich. Along the way, I deepened my expertise in print production, learning the nuances of preparing files for press while designing for both consistency and constraint.

event branding
Logo in a week? No problem! A bold, playful identity for a fundraising event celebrating whole-hog BBQ and community. This project was all about speed, clarity, and tone. I built a small but expressive system—logo, typography, layout, and print collateral—that captured the energy of the event while staying practical for production. Fun, fast, and a little bit funky.

hotel branding
An identity for a boutique hotel designed with softness, warmth, and restraint. Daphne is imagined as a place that feels slow and considered—where every detail, from the type to the tone, invites calm. I built a brand system around these ideas: delicate typography, a muted palette, and quiet compositions that suggest presence without loudness.

hand-lettering
Blue Fire Gin is a playful nod to Victorian-era packaging with a fiery twist. Inspired Blue Fire, the first special effect in the Victorian Theatre, the label mixes ornate hand-drawn type with moody, vibrant colors to match the drink’s spicy character. It’s all about contrast—old-world charm meets modern energy—wrapped up in a bottle that feels as lively as what’s inside.

type as image
The Metamorphosis was my deep dive into the strange, beautiful, and unsettling world of Franz Kafka. I wanted to reimagine the story not just through words, but through what I like to call “type as image.” Every page became a playground for transformation, distortion, and visual tension, echoing the surreal unraveling in Kafka’s narrative.
